Ashburn is a bustling planned community and booming tech hub located in the Dulles Technology Corridor of Loudoun County, Virginia. Development of the community began in 1985 and gathered pace with the growth of the Internet in the mid-1990s. Ashburn is now one of the world’s most important hubs of Internet data centers. The new downtown area of One Loudoun offers an abundance of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.


Ashburn’s housing options include contemporary single-family homes, townhouses, apartments, and condominiums mostly built in traditional New England colonial and shingle styles. Local Lifestyle


Ashburn has been described as the bullseye of America’s Internet due to its concentration of data centers. The community has Equinix, Wikimedia Foundation, and Amazon Web Services data centers. Together with data centers in neighboring Sterling, 70% of all global Internet traffic flows through this area.

Other hi-tech businesses include a large office of Verizon Business, government contractor Telos, and European aerospace and defense giant Airbus Group, Inc. Ashburn is also located close to George Washington University’s Virginia Science and Technology Campus and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Research Campus. While Ashburn offers ample employment opportunities in the booming tech sector, its convenient location and modern amenities mean many residents choose to live here while commuting into Washington D.C. for work.

Ashburn features several community shopping centers and the vibrant modern downtown district of One Loudoun. This enticing community is also located close to more traditional Loudoun County county restaurants and farms. Clyde’s at Willow Creek Farm offers classic American tavern dining and cocktails in a rustic setting featuring four beautifully decorated bars and dining rooms. At Cameron Chase Village Center, Ford’s Fish Shack boasts some of the best seafood in Virginia. Dining options at the Belmont Chase retail center include the chic Cooper’s Hawk restaurant and winery.
 
One Loudoun offers many more options for food, drink, shopping, and entertainment. Highlights include Alamo Drafthouse Cinema for movie screenings and gourmet in-theater dining, City Tap House for elevated bar eats and craft beer, Nando’s for flavorful peri-peri chicken, Uncle Julio’s for delicious mesquite-grilled Tex-Mex, and Zoe’s Kitchen for fresh Mediterranean cuisine. Other businesses at One Loudoun include beauty salons, fitness centers, fashion boutiques, and Trader Joe’s for grocery shopping.
 

Things to Do


One Loudoun hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Virginia Wine Festival offers tasting of more than 200 Virginia wines plus international food trucks, freshly shucked Chesapeake oysters, and live music. Seasonal highlights at One Loudoun include a summertime splash pad and a winter tree lighting ceremony. There’s also a year-round EatLoco Farmers’ Market which takes place each Saturday morning. With more than 100 vendors and over 3000 customers every week. The arrival of the Ashburn Metro Station in 2022 puts all the attractions of Washington D.C. within easy reach of Ashburn. This Silver Line Metro station also offers direct service to the huge Tysons Corner Center shopping mall and other destinations throughout Virginia.
